Summit Team Story

Summit began in 2008 with19 entrepreneurs and three days at one Utah ski resort, Powder Mountain. United by the concept that what’s good for business should be good for the world. The idea caught fire. Six months later, 19 became 60. Six months after that, in March 2009, the White House asked us to convene the country’s leading young entrepreneurs to discuss economic recovery. That’s when we realized: this was bigger than just a ski trip.

We went on to host an annual four-day event, called Summit Series, for 1,000 of the world’s leading entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, artists, scientists, athletes, and change makers. The events have driven more positive growth and collaboration than we ever could have imagined. Tens of millions of dollars have been raised for business and philanthropic ventures.

All this, from just four days a year.

So we asked ourselves: what could we do if we had a permanent place? Enter Powder Mountain. An undiscovered gem in Utah’s Northern Wasatch range, Powder Mountain is the largest ski mountain in the United States. In February 2012, we moved to Eden, Utah, to purchase the mountain, with the goal of creating a center of culture and innovation: a small community with a big impact.

As with our very first summit, the goal is to unite the thought leaders of today and tomorrow, but this time on a mountain we call home.
